 Week 5 Is upon us and more drama........ |

WOW!!!!
That was my reaction upon hearing the news that the Rusty Nail Tavern has closed down. I have notified both team Captains and they will be adjusting to this problem in the coming weeks. I will be contacting all teams that need to play at home with our 2 Rusty Nail teams to make sure that the line of communication stays open and everyone is on the same page as where to meet in the next 14 weeks.
In the meantime, please make sure that all scores are called in on Thursday night immediately following your contest. In the last two weeks I have had to chase down scores to complete the results page.
My Facebook account only deals with horseshoe related topics and I will accept friends at "NIHL Qukslvr". I started this last Thursday posting pics of who "The Rats" played against and also can find a 10:00 P.M. update of the scores that were called in that night. I also post The Rats final numbers for that nights match on there.
You can do the same by simply posting your comments or pics straight to my wall. Remember that this account will only be seen by NIHL members and sponsors that have sent me a request so to get a little extra horseshoe info be sure to send that request soon.
I also post thoughts to my Twitter page that is also strictly Horseshoe related and is immediately posted to this site on the right hand side of our home page.
One thing that I like to post is upcoming tournaments so all our members can attend these and make them enjoyable by having a lot of great shooters and a large turnout for these events. Theres nothing worse than going to a tournament and having only 5 guys show up. The more that happens the more you will see the game of BAGS taking over as the more popular tournament to hold at these events. LET'S NOT LET THAT HAPPEN!!!!!!
So I will see Tommy and his team at O'Leary's this week and for the rest of you guys and gals.......Shoot well and keep the steel off the concrete!

End of the first 4 weeks |

Happy Mothers Day to all of our shooters and to all of the spouses of our shooters who come onto our site and download the weekly score sheet for their husbands who aren't quite computer savvy!
Well....There it is, the first 4 weeks of our season is in the history books!
How did you like playing inner division right out the gate this year? Will the handicaps kill the lower divisions in week 5, 6 & 7? Or will it make things go a little smoother for all? Let me know what you think.
(Remember that Handicaps are changed to reflect our rule that a higher division will never get a handicap from a lower division. All handicaps are changed to reflect this rule. Red gives white no less than 3 and red gives blue no less than 6. White gives blue no less than 3 also. Remember that is no less than 3 and 6 but could be greater depending on actual handicap called for that week.)
I will start getting pics and videos up on this site after Mothers Day is behind us and I have time to do so.

2012 Underway!!! |

Welcome to the 2012 season.
This year we are trying something completely different from previous years. We have voted to play the first 4 weeks and the last 4 weeks inside our own division. How this will change things has yet to be seen.
Post a comment and let me know what you think of this new change as soon as you have an opinion about the matter. I have an opinion already but I will hold off saying what it is until about the 5th or 6th week to see if that opinion changes any.
I am going to try and clean up the photos and videos that I have and make comments as to who is in them so later down the line when I forget who people are......I will have labeled them when I knew.
If anyone has pics of anyone playing horseshoes from the past, please email them to me. I will send the photo out to everyone and see if anyone can guess who it is.
Shoot well this week everyone and have fun.

Spring Meeting 2012 |

Hello NIHL Members,
This years Spring Meeting is this Thursday at 7:00 PM at Moby Dick's (North Shore Tap) in Crystal Lake.
Hopefully it should be a little quicker than past years since we have not had any rule change suggestions that have been brought up to me over our winter break. Actually it's been rather quiet in terms of horseshoe talk all together.
I'm sure that a few of you have taken advantage of this mild winter to get out and pitch at least a few times in the back yard. I hope it's as good as a summer as it has been a winter for us.
We have a new team this year and the Captain should be showing up at the meeting this Thursday. I will let everyone know at that time, who it is and what site they will be shooting out of.
I can't wait to get things rolling this year.

2011 Annual Picnic |

Another year has flown by and now all that is left are the memories!
NOT SO!!!! I hate memories!! I can't always remember things too well so I take lots of photos.
Please follow the link below to view all of this years photos, including the picnic photos that are uploaded already on Photobucket. I captured some nice ones of about half of the people shooting so there are some pretty nice ones to view there.
I'm working on the videos but noticed that I wasn't able to video some nights and my team doesn't pick up the camera while I'm still playing soooo.
I think that's why i like a 5 man roster because it gives me at least one chance to get some videos taken of our opponents that night.
For all of you people that grumble every time I ask for a team photo, thanks for eventually posing because I think it's a little foolish myself now but 20 years down the road I think that looking back at all the photos will be nice.
So keep moaning and complaining and i will keep asking.
Funny thing is, the ones that moan and grumble are the ones I see looking through the albums the most when I bring them around our events.
